The Nevada Faculty Alliance advocates for all faculty in the Nevada System of Higher Education to protect academic freedom, faculty rights and benefits, safe workplaces, effective student learning, and racial and social justice issues. We are affiliated with the American Association of University Professors and the American Federation of Teachers
What We Do:
- Advocacy and Action: NFA defends academic freedom in all its rights and manifestations, including tenure rights and shared governance
- Affordability and Achievement: NFA promotes sufficient funding at the legislature for Nevada’s educational infrastructure to ensure student success

- Fought successfully to preserve access to the PEBP HMO option (2024/2025)
- Successful campaign to restore short-term disability benefits (2025)
- Won the right to create the first contract between NSU and academic faculty with almost 90% of faculty participating and 85% voting in favor. (2025)

Dues information:
- Individual dues are paid through easy monthly payroll deductions and are calculated at 0.5% of your annual base salary
- Comparatively to other unions in the area this is very low
